What kind of connection speeds do you get?

Hi All,  I was wondering what speed you connect at typically?  Even if we set the call to connect at 8mpbs, the call always immediately drops to around 1500kbps.  The internet connection is far from being maxed out! :-)

I would like to hear what other users are experiencing!

Hi Adam,

Thank you for writing on Bluejeans community. Please refer below link which shows bandwidth requirements for endpoints.

https://community.bluejeans.com/bluejeans/topics/bandwidth_requirement_for_various_applications

Also, we cap any thing which goes above 1 Meg. We do 720p at 1meg. Ideal call speed for Room systems should be 768 Kbps.

We cap at 1 meg (outbound! inbound doesn't matter!) too. Found that uncapped room units tend to drop calls frequently.

As the customer, we should have the ability to decide the bitrate we would like to use. Even if calls are dropping over 1.5 bps, leave that up to the customer to decide. Is there a reason they are dropping? Maybe those users don't have QoS or sufficient bandwidth. We have between 200Mbps and 1Gbps in our offices and it's very sad to have our execs say "Isn't this expensive Polycom system supposed to look better than this?" because you're capping our systems at 1.5Mbps. Also, when will we get 1080p on Room Systems?

Thanks,
Cody

I agree with Cody, video quality is short of being impressive at 1mbps. We also would like uncapped bandwidth.

Is there any plans for 1080p on room systems anytime soon ? This would be amazing.

Do you do the cap at client machine, or via IP? We have multiple user within the same office, joining the same call, most of the time the connection will drop when more than 2 people joining the same call from their own machine within the office. Also the user enable the live broadcast to Workplace, not sure that would affect the cap limit also.

Hello Toh,

In reference to your question, we do not cap client machines or by IP when more than 1 person joins a meeting. With local office bandwidth, you can assume that each endpoint in a meeting is utilizing at least 1mbps of data.

We can certainly look into meeting stats to see what occurs when the second participant joins, please let me know and I will be happy to review them.
