With BlueJeans, I can record training and share it with my co-workers via URL or post the saved file on our drive so they may access it and take the training on their schedule.  What a marvelous tool!

Thanks Joanne! We use this feature internally every day and we couldn't imagine life before it! Thanks for the feedback. Any recommendations on how to improve it?

+1

We use recording both to fill in folks who couldn't attend our all-hands and to enable repeated consumption of training content.
Zack - do you change the link and use Bitly or do any tracking to see if anyone actually watches the all-hands back?

We don't, but that's a good idea. We just get some anecdotal info when we take more than a day and people start asking for it. So now we usually post it within 24 hrs.

This may be a silly question, the company I work for has just purchased blue jeans which we intend to use for training purposes. We will be recording the sessions and I noticed we do not have the enhanced recording feature of unlimited storage, we have the 5 hours options. If I record a session then download it, delete afterwards I'm assuming we will be back to having 5 hours available storage again. Is that how it works? Apologies, I just want to double check!!

Hello Justin,

You are correct, if you do not have the Enhanced Recording feature enabled you will only be able to store up to 5 hours of video at a time. If you download the recordings locally and then delete the recordings from your account, it will free up the space that the original recording consumed so that you may record a new recording in that slot.

Justin, hopefully someone from Blue Jeans directly will answer you.  My thought is you are correct your storage is set at 5 hours max.    Perhaps consider upgrading your account?  Mine is unlimited storage and it gives my company a historical little database of past trainings for new people coming on board.

Thanks for the clarification! Another question I have, I was reading through 'large groups' info and noticed you need to activate 'extended capacity'. At what no of participants does that need to be activated?

Hello Justin,

Excellent question! By default meetings support up to 25 users at a time, adding the Extended Capacity feature raises that participant cap from 25 users up to 100 users. We have an article in our Knowledgebase containing some additional information regarding the Extended Capacity feature that you may find helpful as well, this information is available at the below URL:

We have been using the recording feature for firm staff training.  Once a user records the training, the recording is only available to that user that scheduled the meeting unless they go into the ‘Recordings’ page and share the link.

It would be really great to have a BlueJeans Enterprise Video Portal, where the scheduler could ‘Publish’ the video to an enterprise 'Training' page where it would show all of the training videos to all Enterprise users.

On the portal, if we could organize the recordings into subsections that'd be great.  Such as 'New Employee Training', 'Level 2 Training', 'CEO Briefings', etc.

Lucas,

Thanks for your valuable feedback, as always. Admin Access to recordings is something we have been asked by many admins and I know this is being looked at. I have added your feedback to the request. However, can't tell for sure when this will be implemented.

Hi All, I have another question.. in regards to recording and then sharing video in a live blue jeans meeting as part of training, is it possible to hide participants so only moderator is shown on the screen and not any of the participants faces as we intend on having large volume logging on. Thanks in advance

Hi Justin,

Mike is right.

I would just add a small note. In our experience, Blue Jeans' Primetime product is the right answer if you have a big volume of viewers who will mostly be watching vs. just a few participants who will do most of the speaking because it lets you hold a small, normal Meet Me meeting on to which you can "bolt on" up to 1,000 viewers. Those viewers can't interrupt the program, but you still have option to "promote" them to active participants at any time.

It's been our go to for all-company meetings, town halls and we'll be using it for a few upcoming trainings too.

Best,
Zack

Thanks Mike and Zack.

Hoping this is my last qtn, when you record a training session, I have not invited participants as they will view the video, I was wondering if you can record without your face shown on the screen, just the powerpoint presentation? I did test this by turning off my camera however rather than my face I had the meeting details displayed throughout the presentation in a box where my face should have been streaming.

Justin,

Someone directly from Blue Jeans can chime in on this.  However, on the screen you have three options.  One to show just the speaker, one to show up to five people and one to show up to nine people at a time.    When you are looking at  your screen, the option on the farthest left bottom corner is for one person.    Use that and only the presenter will show unless people are asking questions and then they will pop onto the screen while they are talking.  Then it will pop back to the main presenter.  Hope this helps,  Mike

Hi Justin,

When you download the video you have three options.

1) You can download the presentation and the video.
2) You can download just the video/presenter
3) You can download just the presentation.

Think option 3 is what you are looking for.

Thanks for getting back to me so quick Mike. I don't seem to have the three options when I click the download arrow at bottom right of recording?

Justin, maybe someone from Blue Jeans can correct me if I am wrong.  However, I think you have the option until you download it the first time.  Right after recording something before you download you should have the 3 options.   If you really only want the presentation viewing then you can elect that option.    To be candid having the presenter and the presentation is much better.   The only thing is to move her/his picture to the side as you are recording.   Not sure if this actually works but it  seems to.  When I say "works" what I mean is the person's picture will not be on top of the presentation.

One thing you may not have realized which is really cool about the Blue Jeans recordings even better than if you take the recording an upload it to Youtube is the following:

You have a scroll bar at 6pm on your screen that you can adjust to make the presentation bigger or the person bigger.   Good luck,  Mike
