Feature Request:  Support whiteboard sharing on the Microsoft Surface Hub.  We're likely going to be buying Surface Hubs for our office locations, but according to the Skype for Business support document, whiteboard features aren't supported over Blue Jeans http://bluejeans.force.com/KnowledgeSearch/articles/Knowledge_Base/Connecting-Lync-to-a-Blue-Jeans-m...

Our appetite for collaboration tools has only been growing lately, and I'm sure we're not alone!

Currently we do not officially support Microsoft surface Hub endpoint in Bluejeans Meeting. Our product team is expecting a support for it later this year. We do not have any firm ETA in this regard. Kindly stay tuned for more updates published on our website in "what's new" section.

Once we support Surface hub endpoint officially we can request further new features like whiteboard with it.

Hi All,

We have a Surface Hub as well and it works with the whiteboard (desktop) sharing feature (of the Skype for Business client built into the Surface Hub) and anything on the screen at the time, PPT, Excel, Edge, etc - even when split screen.

You need to make sure your Lync environment is either openly federated - or manually federate with BlueJeans as if you were going to connect via a normal Lync client on your laptop.

Then you need to dial - <MeetingID>@lync.bluejeans.com to connect to the call via a Lync endpoint connection.

Works a treat - I did a team meeting yesterday this way.

But it would be great to have a fully featured APPX client on the Surface Hub so it shows up on the landing screen when starting your meeting.

Not sure if you'd be able to do through BlueJeans Relay, as the IP address is given by DHCP - unless you reserved an IP for it?

Hi All,

Asking the same question a year on really.

Does the Blue Jeans feature work on Microsoft Surface Hub and collaboration features such as white board?

Hello James,

Thank you for your feedback, we still do not officially support Microsoft Surface Hub endpoints connecting using BlueJeans.

I will locate the feature request for this feature and will add your name to the list.

Regards,
Lee - BlueJeans Support

Hi Lee, I was told today by your support that if we were using a surface hub with S4B that we could also use the bluejeans feature?

Hello James,

Yes, we have seen some successful connections using the Skype for Business client, but the Surface Hub is not one of our officially supported endpoints. You would need to first federate your Skype for Business client with BlueJeans, you can view the federation guide here:

https://support.bluejeans.com/knowledge/skype-business

You will see at the bottom the limitations regarding Skype for Business clients:
  • PowerPoint sharing, whiteboard sharing, and polling are not supported. If a user attempts to use any of these Lync/Skype features, then they may drop from the BlueJeans meeting.
  • User joining BlueJeans meeting from Lync client, is actually not connecting to a real Lync client on other end and so you cannot utilize the features like Presence, File sharing etc.
  • Recording cannot be started or stopped from a Lync/Skype connection.
  • BlueJeans In-meeting Chat is not supported by the Lync/Skype client.
Regards,
Lee - BlueJeans Support
