Question about detailled network flows

Hi
I'm wondering how works your solution on a worldwide network point of view.
Bjv.vc is always resolved in 199.48.152.152. How do you determine the nearest POP and route traffic ? I already saw your note "TCP/UDP ports used by Blue Jeans Network" and would appreciate to have more details.
Thank you in advance

so the PoP's are located here :
  • 199.48.152.0/22 - California
  • 31.171.208.0/21 - Amsterdam
  • 103.20.59.0/24 - Singapore
  • 103.255.54.0/24 - Australia
  • 8.10.12.0/24 - Florida
  • 165.254.117.0/24 - New York
As you already alluded to.

Your location is determined using the maxmind geoip database.

you can use : http://www.iplocation.net/ to determine that your location is being recorded correctly.

Having a PoP in india would really help me out ;)

Thank you I understand now the first step but what mecanism do you use to redirect the flows from the endpoint to the nearest POP ?

Hi Alexandre,

It depends on the type of endpoint that is being used, as they utilize different call signaling protocols. For example, with SIP we would respond to the endpoints initial INVITE with the IP address of the respective POP.

For H.323, the same is achieved by utilizing the H.245 protocol to tell the endpoint which IP address the audio and video traffic should be sent to.

Hope this helps!

This is pretty important, especially when determining if to use BlueJeans for a point to point H.323 call over long distance.

It's very timely actually. I have an upcoming H.323 call that will have it's destination endpoint in India (not sure where) and we are in Washington D.C.

Am I correct in assuming that H.245 should direct the Indian endpoint to send audio and video to the closest POP in India and then traverse whatever long haul network BJN has to get to the U.S.? Is there a BJN POP in India?

Much appreciated for any expedited response! ;)
