Hi,

are there any recommended settings to connect a Polycom HDX System to bluejeans?
Dynamic bandwidth, RSVP, speedsettings,...

Berhard,

Suggest that Dynamic Bandwidth be disabled. This feature sometimes can drop bitrate if any packet loss is seen and can be a bit too aggressive in many cases. Generally it is better to disable Dynamic Bandwidth. Call speed is generally recommended to use 1024-1152. Although on a good network connection the Polycom HDX can generally accomplish 720p as low as 512. Blue Jeans does not support the RSVP protocol.

Hope this answer your questions.

Hi Stephen,
thanks for your reply.

we'll test without dynamic bandwidth.
Blue Jeans does not support the RSVP protocol
should we turn it off or does Blue Jeans simply ignore it? We'll use direct Polycom connections too.
Call speed is generally recommended to use 1024-1152
but 1920 as maximum would not make any troubles?

Bernhard,

The maximum call speed for Blue Jeans is 1600. Above that speed is down speeded. Higher bandwidth is not needed to obtain 720p. Dialing a higher speed will be lowered on the Blue Jeans side. It will not really cause issues, but may use higher bandwidth than needed. RSVP is related to QoS and would be ignored.

I'll echo the Dynamic Bandwidth comments, disable it. I actually reported a flaw in the 3.1.6 release of the HDX software when Dynamic Bandwidth is enabled and you are receiving content. Every time the content is stopped and started your total incoming video rate may continue to be cut in half until it's basically stuck at 64 or 128K and the video call looks like garbage. This should be corrected in an update soon if you needed that option on for some reason.

I've switched off dynamic bandwidth. Call quality already improved. Thank you!
