Plugin-less capabilities?

So, while I'm happy to hear about the upcoming WebRTC version of BlueJeans; any idea about Microsoft's *other* RTC standard?  CU-RTC-Web?  I'm asking because I want to get away from plugins completely.  With all the browsers going auto-update, I hate seeing updates that break my plugins.

This could also open a host of other possibilities as well.

Jason, this is a great question - thanks for asking. Right now we don't have any specific plans to leverage CU-RTC-WEB, though we're certainly always keeping our eye on up and coming standards. We'd love to see the industry consolidate into a single standard, but until that happens we'll track everything that's out there and prioritize in the way that we feel will offer the broadest benefit to our customers.

Completely understandable.  Given that most enterprises that I know still standardize on Windows/IE, it certainly bears looking at.

the only standard is an open standard, microsoft have shamelessly coveted the "standard" for years and we must rise up and stop it! /rant over - we dont use any microsoft products in our enterprise ( except for integration testing and working with the fianancial sector)

So when can we expect to see this WebRTC client? Can't wait to do away with the plugin dramas...
"Plugin Drama" is absolut the right word! Again and again bad experiences with the Browser Plugins. At the moment with have 10-20% Problems and Conference Failure due Plugins Problems. Even Today Bluejeans told one employ to download the actual client altough it is installed. Due this permanent problems we will stop using BlueJeans. I don't understand why there is noch native client like Skype or Lync? We use both too and never had such problems.

Thats strange to me Matthias, i find the plugin a lot easier than expecting a client. surely if you wanted the lync client experience you would just buy lync and bridge it with Blue Jeans in that scenario? We deploy the plugins direct to our corporate laptops and advise our users where to get the plugins for their BYOD
But the PlugIns depend on the Browser Version, Updatestatus and other Plugins. When it is all working it ist fine... for me it did not work sometimes, not often but often enough... An upset user missing a conference is a no go and it happen too much..

@Matthias -

We completely understand your concern and our immediate roadmap is to have more opportunities for enterprises to deploy the "browser" product option. Currently, we are browser plugin only, but other options are on the way soon we are not 100% dependent upon browser updates.

RE: your specific user connection issues, we will need to have our support engineers look at those issues because 10-20% is not reliable and first we are hearing of this issue. Your CSM will be reaching out to coordinate this troubleshooting effort as it might be something specific with your environment. With that said, we are dedicated to turn this around with you.

We will get more information from product on timeline and share with you offline.

Matthias, apologies for the issues you're facing. We're always exploring options outside of our plugin, but so far most of the feedback we've received has indicated that the browser plugin is the most lightweight and easiest option for our users.

The fact that you're seeing issues such a significant percentage of the time suggests to me that there may be something specific to your environment that can be adjusted to greatly improve things. I highly recommend you work with our support team - they have experience with a wide range of environments and can likely help you troubleshoot the issue.

In the mean time, your feedback is greatly appreciated, and we'll certainly take it into account as we plan future updates.
