Get "There is no application set to open the URL bjn://meeting/[...]" when trying to launch app from URL

When I try launching a meeting from a url such as https://bluejeans.com/somerandommeetingid the web browser is unable to find and launch the bluejeans app. I get the prompt "There is no application set to open the URL bjn://meeting/[...]". Then in that same dialog box I select "choose application", I select the bluejeans app, and then the app will open and the meeting will start. This preference is not saved however and I have to go through the same process the next time I click on a URL to launch a meeting. I believe this started happening recently after upgrading from bluejeans 1.37 to 2.7 for Mac. The issue is still persistent in 2.8. One thing I did notice is that the name of the app changed between 1.37 and 2.7 from "Blue Jeans.app" (note the space) to "BlueJeans.app" (no space). I did uninstall the old app. Any recommendations on how to fix this? Thanks!

Hello Tim,

Depending on the user that scheduled the meeting, their feature set could be pushing for the application 1.x over the 2.x as they are not deployed at an enterprise level to use 2.x. The best way to confirm this is to provide us with a meeting ID and we can check the back-end feature set for that meeting.

Another thought is that there may be some residual files left from the previous 1.x installation trying to run some outdated detector script. We do have a process for cleaning up these files, you will want to make sure to remove the files for "Blue Jeans" with a space and not the files for "BlueJeans". You can find the steps on how to remove the files here:

Let me know if this helps!

Hi Lee! I followed the clean-up steps, then reinstalled 2.8 but this made no difference.

My personal meeting is https://bluejeans.com/3108719513, which exhibits this issue.

Thanks!

Hello Timothy,

It looks like the company that your account is under does not have the necessary join flow features to detect app 2.x. We, unfortunately, cannot fix this until the company deploys the new app company-wide.

Thank you, Lee. Our company says they will not upgrade for the foreseeable future which leaves all of us who have upgraded in a rut. Is there some kind of workaround to get our computers to remember how to open the bjn:// protocol? Even if I manually choose an application it is not remembered on subsequent launch attempts.
