DTMF touch tones do not work when dialling BJN IP address from Room System

We're mainly using Cisco Telepresence (e.g. MX800 devices) for room systems in my Organisation.

For some reason when dialling the IP address 199.48.152.152 from the panel, the touch tones from the touch panel work for about 5-10 seconds then does not register any more tones thereafter when trying to enter the meeting ID.

If dialling 'bjn.vc' on the other hand, the touch tones work fine and register the tones to enter the meeting ID fine.

We are using SIP as the default protocol for Room System calls, but the same occurs when initiating a H323 call, so cant be that. We also tried multiple endpoints from different offices and see the same behaviour.

Has anyone else come accross this?

Hi,

I am using SX20 and SX80 for room systems.

Several thing I would suggest you to try out and understand:

1) From your infrastructure, are you connecting direct or via gatekeeper?
2) You input DTMF from your remote or something 3rd party such as ipad (programmed by AV vendor)?
3) Can you connect to other similar service and test the DTMF?

Hi Joseph, we finally figured out what the problem was. Our Firewall had deep packet inspection for H323 traffic and not SIP, so this was changed to allow H323 traffic through the firewall without DPI. Thanks for the response. Tony
