Cisco SX10 Registered with CUCM - CUBE Only Setup

  • Solved
I have a Cisco SX10 Telepresence Endpoint. If I take it out the box and plug it into a data connection I can call into BlueJeans (meet@sip.bjn.vc) with absolutely no problem.

However, if I configure it to register with my CUCM 9.1.2 I can not get BlueJeans to work at all.

I created a SIP Dial Pattern on CUCM that matches the host portion @sip.bjn.vc... the call is then sent to my Cisco CUBE  (Cisco 2911 running 15.4(2)T1)

It matches the appropriate dial peers and then the call is sent to my SIP provider which returns a 604 not found error.

I attempted to send it directly to sip.bjn.vc but that does not work either. It just times out.

I contacted BlueJeans but only received a document on how configure this with a CTS and VCS-Expressway. Neither which I have.

Is there a way to setup an SX10 to dial into BlueJeans only using CUCM and CUBE?

Hey Luis,

Thank you for writing on BJN community. This set up should work as per the description. However,
Cube logs should be checked to see the reason for 404 not found.

As far as in remember we were getting below error when we debugged the system last time.
I will contact you tomorrow morning to discuss the issue in detail.

271.21 SipStack I: SipDialog(ui=2,s=1) sendInviteRejToStack (400:Bad Request - 'Malformed/Missing URL')
271.21 SipCall I: sip_call_handler::handleSIPMCallRej(2/1/-1): Call rejected (cause: Bad Request - 'Malformed/Missing URL')
271.21 MainEvents I: CallDisconnectRequested(p=2) remoteURI='sip:199.48.152.155' cause=[normal('') 'LocalDisconnect']
271.22 MainEvents I: ParticipantLeftConference(c=1,p=2)
271.22 MainEvents I: CallDisconnected(p=2) remoteURI='sip:199.48.152.155' causeToLocal=[disconnected('Bad Request - 'Malformed/Missing URL'') 'RemoteDisconnect'] causeToRemote=[normal('') 'LocalDisconnect']

Thank yu.

I'm actually getting a 604 Does not exist anywhere error.   (debug ccsip messages)

SIP/2.0 604 Does not exist anywhere

The INVITE is showing the TO address as...

     To: <sip:325142576@sip.bjn.vc>;tag=1235407440-1410201772542

Which is the meeting number followed by @sip.bjn.vc

If you can help me to get this up and running you would be my hero!

Luis this config is unlikely to work - if interested how we connect Cisco, polycom, lifesize, tanberg etc to cisco callmanager and allow them to talk as a phone call to bjn let me if you need any help - ppatel@umich.edu

Hello Everyone,
With the help of Vikram and Pradip I was able to get this configuration to work. Thank you very much guys!

Here is a summary of the setup.

CUCM v9.1.2

1. Create a route pattern.

You can use any number you wish. I use 5979 because we use 4-digit internal dialing.

I added the Route List that contains my SIP Trunk and Prefix Digits 941255  (to make it a complete DID)

2. SIP Trunk Configuration

In my SIP trunk I point the IP to my CUBE internal IP address  10.1.1.201 and port 5060

I choose the BlueJeans SIP Profile

3. SIP Profile Configuration

In the SIP profile make sure you check Early Offer Support and Allow Presentation Sharing using BFCP.

4. CUBE Configuration Dial Peer

Here is where my problem was. I had a misconfigured dial peer and after I fixed it everything started working.

I have one dial-peer on my CUBE. It is the OUTBOUND dial-peer to BlueJeans. Below is the config.

!
dial-peer voice 100 voip
 description OUTBOUND TO BLUEJEANS
 destination-pattern 9412555979
 session protocol sipv2
 session target dns:sip.bjn.vc
 session transport tcp
 codec g722-64
!

You have to make sure to specify TCP and you have to specify g722-64.

Also the session target can be either dns:sip.bjn.vc or you can use ipv4:199.48.152.155

BONUS INFORMATION

This configuration has also solved my other request of being able to use Cisco Jabber for Windows to join a meeting.

Now my users can dial 5979 from their Jabber and it takes them to BlueJeans Splash Page where they can enter in the meeting number.

Thanks again everyone!

Thanks for the info.  This didn't work for me, but I'm very hopeful BlueJeans will supply some sort of documentation soon to support this procedure, then instead of just an MCU killer, they can be the VCS killer too!

Great news! We have an update on Blue Jeans integration into CUBE (Cisco Unified Border Element). Nice work @Vikram!

This solution illustrates how to configure Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) to allow room systems that register to a Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) to connect to a Blue Jeans conference.  Click here (or download the PDF below) to view the step by step implementation guide on how to setup your CUCM/CUBE to facilitate the call.

Prerequisite:
-    Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) version 9.1.2 or later
-    Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) version 15.4(2)T1 or later (to support URI dialing).

Our SIP provider does not support g.722, only 711.  I suppose there's no way around this requirement and that we won't be able to make BlueJeans calls from our devices?

I tried setting the dial peer it to g711ulaw on the cube instead but I'm still getting "the number you have dialed is not in service."

can you share your dial-peer config to bjn IP address - it should work - but bjn is down presently

I could not create the same error with the audio codec set to G-711 -ulaw

Can you capture the ccsip message debug?, this could shed some light on sip signalling

reach me at ppatel@umich.edu -- if you need any further assistance.

thanks

(Removed previous comment, I posted the wrong debug)

Well I made some progress while collecting that debug and found a dns lookup failure, so I changed "session target dns:sip.bjn.vc" on the dial-peer to "session target ipv4:199.48.152.155" and I now have audio and can hear the BlueJeans intro and even enter my meeting ID but there's no video yet.

Below is the current debug in case it's still of use for the video issue.  I truncated as much unrelated call info from other users as I could find.

No video stuff in your SDP from CUCM to the cube -- henceBJN is only seeing your audio codecs

Have a look at the CUCM trunk config

I had "Media Termination Point Required" checked on the trunk from when I was attempting to convert the codecs.  Unchecking that allowed video to pass so it's working now.

Thank you very much to Vikram Dutta for his help via email and Pradip Patel for your assistance here on this thread.

Thanks to this post i got mine working as well but i do have one question.

Q. is it possible to have a second dial-peer that points to a different video conferencing provider. In this example it points to sip.bjn.vc.  But can i configure a second RoutePattern and a second Dial-Peer to point to a different provider like join.Ubiety.me.  Or does someone have a better way of doing this.

I am using CUCM 8.6
Cube router Cisco 2821 with IOS 15.1(4)M9
Codec: Cisco SX20

Thank you to anyone who replies with anything useful or useless.

Forget the previous question. I got it all working now except for a new problem.

New Question.

It seems when I have a presentation running in the videoconference, the Video and the Presentation are using one stream to send the information instead of separate streams.  Basically the participant sees the video conference and the presentation under one screen and everything is really small since its sharing the same screen.  I'm sure this is something on the cube but I don't know what.

See the attached screen shot for what I'm talking about.

Composite streaming of content in video channel is known issues with H323/SIP based room systems.

Ensure following config is already in place-
  • If it is a dual screen monitor always make sure H.239/BFCP content sharing is enabled on H.323/SIP endpoint.
  • Check Firewall and NAT-aware mechanism. Turn on H.323 inspection on H.323 aware firewall if no transversal device is being used.
Please refer below knowledge base article for more information:
If issue still persist please let us know we will create a support case and work with you to resolve same.

Thank you,

Does this setup work with encrypted meetings?

Hello Sydney,

I am almost certain that this setup will work for encrypted meetings, as long as AES encryption is on on the device. You can refer to the device's configuration guide on how to enable encryption.
