Capture Card Compatibility with Bluejeans Web Browser Plugin

I have a rather elaborate setup in my office meeting hall that I'd like to integrate with Bluejeans. I can't justify the cost of installing a true video conferencing system, so I'd like to take the Program video from my Blackmagic Design video mixer and pass it to a capture card installed in a desktop computer. I'd then like for the desktop system to connect to a Bluejeans session and use the capture card as an audio/video input device.

Has anyone had any luck doing such a thing? Are there certain capture cards that will and will not do this? I was personally looking at the Blackmagic Design DeckLink Recorder card, but I am open to other suggestions

I have been testing a very similar setup to what you are talking about.  I have tested several Black Magic devices including the intensity Pro & Deck Link with no success.  i have also tested the Aver Media HDMI capture card with no success.  A few months ago BlueJeans tech support suggested I try the Vaddio AV Bridge but I have not followed through with it yet.

Jeremy, we ended up getting a trial Vaddio AV Bridge, but I ran into an interesting issue. On both Firefox and Chrome, under Windows 7, the video of myself within the Bluejeans plugin is horizontally mirrored when selecting the AV Bridge. Remote attendees do not see this problem. Have you experienced this? It appears to only be an issue with the AV Bridge feed. The integrated camera on the laptop shows the video normally.

I have this same issue with my little webcam, not a huge deal for me but I have experienced it.

@Andrew and @Jeremy - Great news. Blue Jeans support for Capture Cards is scheduled for middle/end of August. I will update you both here when that support is live for you to test again.

@Jeremy - this should be just in time for your Universities Fall Semester!

That's great! Will it support pretty much any capture card, or just specific ones? I ask, because I may order the Blackmagic Design capture card I've been looking at in preparation for it.

We're using the vaddio AV bridge and that works fine. Also we've been using epiphan vga and dvi one's and they both show up and work correctly too

I considered the vaddio AV bridge, but it's $2k while a desktop computer with a capture card wouldn't run me more than $500 and can replace a leased laptop I have for a bunch of other functions required. I think I'll just hold out for the Bluejeans plugin update. It's a bit easier of a sell to management :)

Blackmagic Intensity Extreme on any mac with thunderbolt is working perfectly for video + audio for me.   Pic is a capture from iphone mirror through HDMI/lightning adapter.

How did you get it to work? I just bought one but the video is black. I can see video on the other apps but not Blackmagic.

I have tried all the settings that I can think off. I can get it to work with Skype, Google Hangouts and FaceTime but not Bluejeans.

I am also experience color degradation issues with my firewire capture card. Some parts will be in color and other parts are black and white. I then use another software that uses the same capture card and it is in full color.

@Larry -

What capture card are you using that is experiencing the degradation issues?

at github we've been using black magic capture devices for months, and they're basically rock solid. our favorite is the ultrastudio mini recorder

Drew, what camera are you using with the BlackMagic?

At Puppet, we've also been using the UltraStudio Mini Recorder, but are on our second or third unit at this point.  We use a Blackmagic ATEM 2 M/E 4k & Sony EVI-HD1 cameras for switching and use usb out of our mixer for audio in/out.

We also were unable to get the Intensity series functional, both Shuttle and Extreme over thunderbolt.

I was able to get the Blackmagic Design Intensity Extreme to work with Bluejeans. I had to set up the videocamera for 720p and then Blackmagic on the software to 720p59.94 however the audio from the camera lags for about 1.5 seconds. I can get this audio to sync if I use a mixer. Has anyone experienced this?
