Hi everyone,

I'm Ben, an engineer at Blue Jeans. Along with Nick and Tedd, I'm developing Blue Jeans Relay.

As we continue to build the features and capabilities of this platform, we want to make sure that we're listening to the feedback from the folks who are actually deploying, managing, and using this system day-to-day.

That's why we're asking for you to tell us about your suggestions, opinions, and experiences, both positive and negative. Let us know what you like, what you want to see more of, and what you want to see less of.

Thanks!

Hello, I'm Nick, and I came to Blue Jeans last year specifically to work with Ben and Tedd on Relay.  We want it to be the best product it can possibly be, so please let us know how we can help your Relay deployment be successful!

Hi Ben,

We are a large Managed Video Conference Service Provider in India and we would like to deploy Blue Jeans as a Managed VC Service Model for our Customers. Unfortunately BJ does not have this Model. is BJ planning to come with a White labeled service too. darayus.mehta@vcnow.in +91 9322402404

To be sure your idea gets the attention of the right people, please start a new conversation post; this thread is focused on feedback and suggestions for the Blue Jeans Relay product in particular.

In case you missed the communique, on Saturday night we updated Relay to 1.8.  At the moment, we're having some trouble with the download links for Listener Service updates (they are pointing to 1.5.0 instead of 1.8.0), so for reference, here are the correct links:

Windows: https://swdl.bluejeans.com/relay/listenerservice/listenerservice-1.8.0-exe.zip
Redhat/Fedora/CentOS: https://swdl.bluejeans.com/relay/listenerservice/listenerservice-1.8.0-rpm.zip
Debian/Ubuntu: https://swdl.bluejeans.com/relay/listenerservice/listenerservice-1.8.0-deb.zip
Java JAR: https://swdl.bluejeans.com/relay/listenerservice/listenerservice-1.8.0-jar.zip

Older Listener Services will continue to work, but the new Mute/Unmute functionality won't be available until you update to 1.8.0.  Always back up your config.properties file prior to upgrading, just in case.

Good afternoon Ben, Nick and Tedd (BlueJeans Relay Team).

Just trialling the BlueJeans system and relay and I have some feedback.

The install for the listener could do with some validation.  I found that it simply would not work and the log files showed authentication issues, but all the details entered were valid.  We use an on premise Exchange.  Long story short, the solution was to leave the domain field blank.

A feature request that I have mentioned to our sales rep Jeremy Slater, is that for a scheduled meeting, the person that scheduled the meeting should be able to select an option that allows the scheduled meeting end point device to automatically dial into the meeting at the allotted meeting start time.  We are talking endpoints (i.e. VC systems or the huddle) so the security risk is low.  You could put a pin code in as an extra measure if needs be.  We have a number of directors that would just like to walk into a meeting room at the allotted time and for all the equipment to be setup.  Call it the executive experience if you like.

The touch tablet could still be used to end the meeting.  Obviously you would need to handle sequential meetings....

Regards

Dan

Ben and the team,

Here is some more feedback that I hope you will find useful.

I received yesterday trial huddle equipment and the previous user had not reset it.  So I had to remove the huddle software from the NUC including all the settings, as a simple uninstall from the control panel did not clear the previous users settings.  I therefore recommend that you include an official uninstaller when the application is installed that clears all the setting information.

Clean-up Process

If it helps anyone in the meantime, here is the process to clean up the huddle installation:

1)    Uninstall the application in the usual way from Programs and Feature within the Control Panel.

2)    Show hidden files and then remove the huddle folder from c:\Program Data\Bluejeans

3)    Browse to %appData% then go up one folder and then into Local.  Remove the Huddle folder from within the Bluejeans folder.

That should be it!

General Feature Request

When inviting users into a meeting and using the BlueJeans App from either a PC, tablet or smart phone, you have to know the full Email address of the person you would like to invite.  It would be useful if the admin users could upload a CSV file to the BlueJeans account, containing Email addresses and an associated name against the Email address.  That way an auto complete type lookup could be performed when adding an invite Email address.  Maybe this could be taken further and customised by user, so that regular Email addresses can be looked up quickly.

Regards

Dan

Hi Ben,

Just got some feedback regarding DX80 with a custom background. There is no link to join the meeting or a list of scheduled meetings. Everything works as expected with the meeting popping up on the screen and an option to join it but if this window is dismissed there is no way of getting back to it (other than going through Call->Recents. This is not an issue if OSD background is set to auto.

This is not a major issue for us but a bit of an annoying bug since we cannot use a custom wallpaper.

Regards,
Bart

Hi Bart,

Yeah, this is unfortunately how Cisco endpoints work; it extends to all the TC and CE firmware versions on SX, EX, DX, and probably MX families of endpoints. FWIW this affects TMS installations as well, not just Relay.

We had this same problem with our internal endpoints here, so we had to set the wallpaper back to "auto" or "none" instead of "custom".

I'm not aware of any other workarounds. You probably can't repack a different PNG into the firmware installer because it's a signed archive and the endpoint would reject the upgrade. It's also not feasible to get a remote root shell on these devices to replace the PNG on disk after installation, as far as I know.

Hi Ben,

We have hit a bit of a brick wall with Relay where if a meeting requires a moderator to start the meeting, and the moderator joins using bluejeans Relay, there is no way to start the meeting. Are there any work arounds so that we can input the moderator passcode whilst continuing to use relay? We use Cisco tandberg codecs with a mix of telepresence Touch 8 and Touch 10. All is managed by TMS.

Many thanks,
Bart

I'm assuming you're joining directly from the Cisco touch panels and not a separate Android or iOS tablet, correct?

I am investigating a potential way to solve this problem. Which Cisco software versions are you running on your endpoints?
