Hi Everyone,

We are excited that Blue Jeans Primetime, our second product line that we announced in December, is now generally available!  Thank you to all of you who participated in the trial period and provided invaluable feedback.  To date, almost a thousand interactive events have been hosted on Primetime and we're excited to see that number skyrocket in the coming months.

Blue Jeans Primetime blends our video conferencing capabilities that you know well, with streaming capabilities that increase your reach to up to 2,000 participants in a video session.  Beyond broadcasting a Blue Jeans video conference, we've enabled cool role mobility features where attendees watching a one-way stream can be moderator promoted to a two-way video participant in the live event.  It's as simple as clicking a "raise hand" button and the moderator turning your video on.

So why is this different than traditional web conferencing? Today, only 15% of webcasts actually show a presenter on video. You're probably used to dialing in, watching a slide show, and not feeling like you're actually participating. With Blue Jeans Primetime you can watch the presenter on video and see the presentation simultaneously. Have a question? Great, the moderator will now move you to video so the presenter and yourself are face to face. No more typing your question in and hoping someone sees it.

Imagine: You're a sales rep working in Atlanta from home. Your company is HQ in Silicon Valley. You only get to visit HQ twice a year and want to work on your relationship with executives. Your all-hands meetings are now run on Blue Jeans Primetime, so you take advantage and make sure you ask questions by raising your hand and using video to speak direct with your CEO. Now, senior management will know your face and name next time you're in town.

Here are some additional details on Primetime's capabilities:

  • Expands Use Cases for Video: Primetime addresses larger-scale events use cases than our meetings product, including Town Halls, All Hands, Trainings, Customer Communications, Product Announcements, and more
  • Present or View from Any Device: Presenters and attendees can join from a full range of video or audio devices, including room systems, computers, and mobile devices.
  • Role Switching: Attendees enter the event in view-only mode, and can virtually raise their hand and be “promoted” to actively engage with the presenters, ask questions, or become part of a panel and contribute to the conversation.
  • Self-Service: Blue Jeans Primetime makes large scale events easy and intuitive, without the need for a truck roll or white-glove service. Organizers, moderators and attendees can easily schedule, join and view events, with the ability to raise their hand, share video/content, and interact with other participants.
  • Robust Moderator Controls and Options: Event hosts have moderator controls that allow them to mute participants, pin presenters, promote attendees, and record the meetings. Moderators can also prep presenters in a “green room” like setting before they go live.
For customers who didn't already participate in the pre-GA trial period, we're offering a 14-day Primetime trial <link to> so you can get the service in your hands.  As always, please share your thoughts and use cases in the community!

This is fantastic and removes my tie in to antiquated live streaming technologies that cost a fortune especially when i have to start building events spaces globally.

I no longer need to train events coordinators on technology - just simply how to champion the art of holding an event or webinar - PrimeTime does the rest for you.

now if only we could get rid of flash :P

/Ash - always wanting more
@Ash - can I quote you on this? I would like to tweet it out & @mention you!
