Allow desktop client to accept a meeting id or a meeting URL

Most people seem to pass meetings around as links, which means if I want to open it in the desktop client I have to carefully copy just the meeting id out of the url.  It would be simpler if I could just copy the URL and paste it into the desktop app and have it just look for the meeting ID when it gets a meeting starting with "http(s)://"

Hi Tom and Christa,

Thank you for the suggestion. May I know if you tried "Launching Bluejeans app" from web browser by clicking on meeting URL or join meeting button in given in meeting invite?. It is a simple and faster way of joining meeting via bluejeans app.

If you regularly uses web to select bluejeans app to join meeting, in subsequent sessions web launcher connects you to app directly

True, but it's counterintuitive to jump over to the browser so that it opens the app.

A user has to join a BlueJeans meeting so they open the app. It's a more natural flow to accept the meeting identifier in whatever form the user has it, which is often a URL.

Also, if a BlueJeans meeting was created via the Outlook plugin, then the Join My Meeting button does not appear, just the link to the meeting.  At least for me it seems to work this way. Being able to copy a URL to the app and have it identify the meeting ID would be nice.

This "solution" requires me to install another heavy extension to my browser, which I personally don't want to do. How hard it would be just to expose the numeric meeting ID to the Web client? Or just make the desktop app understand the alphabetic ID?

My customers or screaming at me to get this functionality, we need to be able to use the vanity URL / Personal URL / username in the app without having to go to the browser then the app.

Any news as to whether this is on the roadmap or not?

You may want to take a look at how-can-i-open-the-os-x-bluejeans-app - It has a solution for another type of url and a tool.

I agree with the original post, I would like to paste urls and vanity urls into the app's text box.

I dunno; A url is a url.

It work on mac and windows and should work from a Fedora (or locked down RHEL) desktop.

I'm trying to get something working for Mac (Alfred) and Fedora (gnome launcher maybe?)

I just tested on Fedora 25 and it worked successfully.
I copied the link URL from the tool and passed it as the first argument to xdg-open.
$ xdg-open bjn://meeting/abcdefg12345?ctxver=1.0.0

ok, so that doesn't quite meet my requirements. i need the personal URL to open directly in the app or through a shortcut, i.e. if someone knows my personal url, i would want to just enter the "username" instead of the full url into the app.
